Disadvantages include a limited choice in styles. Stains are common especially on white furniture and any mildew that grows is instantly visible. Since its plastic, it looks cheap, so your lawn will not look classy, just serviceable. Plastic is less durable than metal or wood, and is more likely to break.
Making the Most of Metal Lawn Furniture
Metal lawn furniture offers a greater variety than plastic. Chairs have metal frames and cloth seats. The cloth can come in a variety of colors and patterns, making the seats bright and cheerful.

The quality is high and chairs and tables are not easily breakable. Disadvantages of wood lawn furniture include the price, which can be quite high depending on the name brand and type of wood used. Since wood is heavy, you will want to treat the outdoor furniture like you do your indoor couch or table by only setting it up once, and leaving it in place.
Stains, pests, and other problems with wood can be resolved by using protective chemicals on the wood.
Recommendations
If money is not an issue, my recommendation would be cedar lawn furniture, as it is reliable, stylish, and long-lasting. Although metal lawn furniture is more expensive than plastic, vinyl or pvc, I would recommend spending the extra money, because of their comfort and portability.
Whichever type of lawn furniture you choose, your yard will become a pleasant place for your family and friends to enjoy during the summer.
